The Landing 2: Specialized Mental Health Care for Complex Cognitive & Behavioral Needs
Individuals living with serious mental illness and neurocognitive impairments often require a level of care that extends beyond traditional residential mental health treatment. The Landing 2 was created to meet that need.
Located in Fridley, Minnesota, The Landing 2 is a licensed 10-bed Intensive Residential Treatment Services (IRTS) program operated by Horowitz Health. Our specialized program serves adults with complex mental health conditions alongside neurocognitive challenges, providing individualized treatment in a structured, trauma-informed environment designed to promote stability, independence, and long-term success.
Through compassionate, evidence-based care, we help residents strengthen daily functioning while preparing for a successful transition back into the community.
Who We Serve
The Landing 2 serves adults ages 18 and older who are experiencing significant mental health challenges combined with neurocognitive impairments or executive functioning deficits.
Our program is designed for individuals living with:
- Serious and persistent mental illness
- Neurocognitive disorders
- Cognitive impairments related to traumatic brain injury (TBI)
- Developmental or neurological conditions
- Executive functioning deficits
- Memory and attention difficulties
- Behavioral regulation challenges
- Co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns
Many of the individuals we serve have struggled to find an appropriate level of care within traditional behavioral health settings. The Landing 2 provides specialized programming tailored to these unique clinical needs.
Specialized Treatment Designed Around Cognitive Recovery
Treatment at The Landing 2 goes beyond symptom stabilization. Our interdisciplinary team develops individualized care plans that address both mental health and cognitive functioning, helping residents build practical skills for everyday life.
Services include:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Psychiatric evaluation and medication management
- Nursing support
- Executive functioning skill development
- Memory and cognitive support strategies
- Behavioral regulation interventions
- Adaptive life skills training
- Functional goal setting
- Community reintegration planning
- Comprehensive discharge planning
- 24-hour staff supervision in a therapeutic residential setting
Every treatment plan is built around each resident’s strengths, goals, and level of functioning to encourage meaningful progress toward greater independence.
Integrated Support for Co-Occurring Disorders
Many residents at The Landing 2 experience both mental health and substance use challenges. Our program incorporates substance use education, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused interventions into our therapeutic programming because we understand the important connection between mental health and substance use.
However, The Landing 2 is a mental health IRTS program—not a primary substance use treatment program. Individuals whose primary need is substance use treatment may benefit from completing a dedicated substance use program before entering IRTS. Our admissions team works closely with hospitals, providers, and families to determine the most appropriate level of care.
A Safe, Accessible Therapeutic Environment
The Landing 2 has been intentionally designed to support individuals with cognitive and physical accessibility needs.
Program features include:
- 10 residential beds
- Shared resident rooms
- All rooms are ADA accessible
- Structured daily programming
- 24/7 staff supervision
- Trauma-informed, person-centered care
- Safe, welcoming therapeutic environment
Our goal is to create a setting where residents feel respected, supported, and empowered throughout every stage of treatment.
